Help Me, Lord

WATCHWORD:

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9

I’m able to overcome difficult things through him who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

Meditation:

Help Me, Lord

Have you ever reached the end of your rope? Is it the end of your hope? Are you brought down by worry or adversity, and you cry out to the Lord for help? Or maybe, you occasionally awake in the morning feeling just a little grey,  not sure what the day will bring, and that sense of discouragement persists until you come to the Lord in prayer? You find His hand, and you find His peace, and you are better able to face the day.

Someone has said “God always answers our prayers, either by giving us what we ask for or by giving us something better.”

Think about the apostle Paul, afflicted with what is described as a ‘thorn in the flesh’, which caused him constant pain. We read in scripture that three times he prayed to the Lord to have this suffering taken away. God’s answer to Paul, and to us, is My grace is sufficient to overcome any difficulty and any weakness that we may have, even the discouragement we may have in the morning hours. Not only that, but he resp0nds to our prayers and gives us the strength to get through whatever it is.

God didn’t remove Paul’s painful burden, nor will He lift ours. We are told that God would be with us and that His grace would be sufficient for us to meet all our needs. Here is the ‘better’ part; He assures us that his grace is sufficient, and we know he walks with us moment by moment. There is the comfort and the peace.

We may have called out to the Lord in our pain and our confusion in our darkness, but that wasn’t taken from Paul and it won’t be taken from us, we still must do the work to get through it, but the strength He gives us, the grace He gives is so all encompassing that even through our pain is the knowledge that we are His.

Rest assured that God‘s grace is still sufficient for whatever we are facing and that his power is still being applied to the difficulties that we face in our lives. He tells us, Child of God, my grace is sufficient for you. Thank You, Lord.

Closing Prayer:

Thank you Lord for your presence in my life. Those times when I need to call out to you, reassure me, Lord, that your grace is sufficient even for this difficult moment. Help me always to rely upon you, Lord, and  strengthen my faith and allow me to rest in your everlasting arms even as darkness surrounds me. Instill in me the knowledge that you are there and my hand grips yours as you walk with me. It’s in Jesus name I pray, amen.
