Pandemic Precautions

WATCHWORD:

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:29

From Jesus Calling for this morning: I am a God of both intricate detail and over flowing abundance. When you and entrust the details of your life to me, you are surprised by how thoroughly I answer your petitions. I take pleasure in answering your prayers, so bring me all your requests. The more you pray, the more answers you can receive. Best of all, your faith is strengthened as you see how precisely I respond to your specific prayers.

Bulletin Board:

Tip of the day: The phone is safe to use! Wow, what a revelation! So, use it! Call a friend, a grandkid, one of the MIM guys. The chat will do you good and will do that person good to know you are thinking of them and supporting them. Remember, they are going through the same thing as you, and cabin fever is not fun!  Wisdom from a Dove piece wrapper: Talk to people who make you laugh!

We have all been inundated over the airways and TV with so much information about the Coronavirus and maybe we tend to tune it out. But some of us learn from reading, not just hearing, so… For your own understanding, review this from Stanford Hospital, recommended by Gary Oden and Dan Speicher:

From Stanford Hospital Board
IMPORTANT RE CORONAVIRUS:

  1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
  2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
  3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun.
  4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
  5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours – so if you come into contact with any metal surface – wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
  6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
  7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
  8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but – a lot can happen during that time – you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
  9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
  10. Can’t emphasis enough – drink plenty of water!

Final point: If you are infected and undiagnosed, you could infect 10 people per day, and they, in turn, infect 10 more, they could…you get the idea.

Prayer Requests:

For all those feeling the effects of “stay at home”: kids, mothers, dads and all those being touched with boredom and depression. Lord, give us happy thoughts. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

Grant your faithful people, Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from our sins and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
