Doing the Impossible

WATCHWORD:

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. Revelation 1:17

Meditation:

Doing the Impossible

Read again Romans 8:38-39 and be reassured that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ. Paul goes on to say that some of the most difficult things that we are confronted with in our everyday lives, that are exhausting, irritating, painful, causing us to fear; yet, none of these is able to separate us from the love of Christ. Can we get that through our thick heads, and believe it, and act on it, day by day?

Why is it we have a hard time with the reality of God’s presence, all around us and within? If on one level we say that God’s love will hold fast to us, get us beyond these difficult times, and never leave us, then we turn right around and slip into cautiousness, fear, uncertainty, in other words we cave in to what Satan wants us to believe.

“The Samaritan thought about that first story, one he had heard time and time again, changing water into wine. The logic of that was so unbelievable, he thought, no one could do that. Well, maybe God could, he thought with a smile. How about healing a leper?  No one could do that, but God… Restoring sight to a blind boy, or walking on the waters of Galilee? No one could do those things except God.”  Chapter 27, The Inn on Jericho Road, by Stan Escott

Do you suppose that Jesus is a deceiver? Did he deceive Paul? Oswald Chambers, in one of his devotionals, makes this statement: “Extraordinary things happen to one who holds on to the love of God when the odds are totally against him.”

Our common sense or logic is tested or silenced in the face of  the blessings and graces that touch our lives, which can only have one source, an active spirit within us through Jesus, and the love of God. We stand in awe of his Majesty and consider what man cannot do, but God can, and often does.  However, we must remember, followers of Christ, “God can do nothing for me until I recognize the limits of what is humanly possible, allowing Him to do the impossible.”  My Utmost for His Highest,

Closing Prayer:

Life’s trials often feel long and heavy, and there are days when I feel like I can’t go on. Yet, I know You are my source of strength and endurance. When I am weary and weak, lift me up and help me to persevere. Teach me to trust in Your plan, even when the path is difficult and unclear.

Lord, give me the patience to endure, knowing that You are working in ways I cannot see. Let my heart be filled with hope, even in the darkest moments, as I cling to Your promises. Strengthen my faith, so that I do not give up but continue pressing forward with confidence that You will see me through. When I am overwhelmed by trials, remind me that You are with me every step of the way. Help me to focus on Your goodness and faithfulness, trusting that You are shaping me and strengthening me through this season.

Thank You for Your love and for giving me the endurance to continue, even when it feels impossible. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
