God Loves Me?

WATCHWORD:

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
  Psalm 139:13-16

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

So, we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. 1 John 4:16

Meditation:

God Loves Me?

God loves me? And you, too? How can we get that through our thick heads so that it matters to us, hour by hour, throughout our days? So many of the scriptures that tell us that God loves us, but do we take the word of God into our very being and act like we are loved?

I think that’s hard for us to embrace when we consider all our evil thoughts, all our actions that we have taken over time, that we are not proud of, to say the least. Our shortcomings, those times when we’ve turned our back on a person in need. Maybe those times when, inadvertently, we took our Lord’s name in vain and later, we came to ask for forgiveness, and he forgave us.

You can search the scripture from Genesis through Revelation and you will not find an explanation as to why God loves us except for the fact that he created us, he made us in his own image. Oh!  We are His. Despite the person, we think we are, our Lord sees something far different in each one of us.

We need to digest the fact that God cares about us and that he is always there. If we will simply walk through our days reminding ourselves of that fact, it will give us a hope beyond the rough road we’re on, hope beyond our disappointments, and beyond those places where evil threatens to diminish us.

But, my friends, there is a God, and He loves us, and He can be known. More than that, he wants you and I to know him, to talk with him daily and He will equip us to overcome the darkness knowing that He is by our side through any trial we may face. That fact alone can shed a bright light on the pathway that we have to walk. Our task is to embrace the God that walks with us. Amen.

Bulletin Board:

How old were you when you first learned this little ditty?

Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong, we are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus Loves me.

Believe it!

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you that you love me that you care for me, and you knew me even as I was knit together in my mother’s womb. Thank you that there is no circumstance in my life that’s a surprise to you or has caught you off guard. You have made allowances that I might be free, clean, delivered, redeemed, and made whole. Thank you that God’s power over my mind, my body, and my emotions is broken. Thank you that I’ve been set free, that you are writing my future, and you hold it in your hands. In Jesus name Amen.
