I Lost It!

WATCHWORD:

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. […] For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. James 3:2, 7-10

I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me.  Jeremiah 33:8

Meditation:

I Lost It!

Have you ever “blown your stack”, you know, lost your cool. Said something you regret. Perhaps you acted in haste, made some assumptions that proved to be completely off base, and now what do you do? Do you think you’re the only one who used your voice before your brain was engaged? Maybe you let their emotions lead the way and you found yourself on a pathway that’s filled with mud, or worse, shame.

I think that’s what happens when we find our foot in our mouth or when we give in to what can only be called sin, and temptation came knocking at our door. Oh, yes, and what is right behind temptation? That would be shame and guilt right there, coming to you.

At this point in your faith journey, you know that what happened was not part of God’s plan, not his hope for you or me. If you’re paying close attention, then you know that the spirit within has already prompted you to step forward, to confess, to admit your sin, to repent. Your spiritual eyes will open and there is Jesus reaching out to you and to me in love offering us forgiveness. That’s the very best kind of forgiveness you know, it came with an extremely high cost, the life of our Lord and savior.

As we consider the mess that too often is part of our life pattern, we know what we must do. We know that Jesus’ resurrection is the rock upon which we build our faith. We need not linger in our disgrace, in our shame and there is no room for kicking ourselves because we’ve done it over and over and over again. Repentance is cleansing.

We need to be convinced, no convicted, then our faith walk each day is a new day, a fresh day, a day that is not encumbered with yesterday’s pride, or shame. We need to take to heart that this is the day the Lord has made. We may recite that scripture passage, and seek ways to be rejoicing in it, and we will, but first you need to realize that this is the day the Lord has made for you, and for me, and in the knowledge of that, we rejoice. Go in peace. Amen

Words of Wisdom:

If you want the rainbow, you’ve got to put up with the rain.
When everything is coming your way, you may be in the wrong lane.
A quick conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.
If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Prayer of Repentance:

Heavenly Father, I followed you with reluctance and often have complained. I repent. I gladly yield to you and your invitations in my life. Holy Spirit, help me to learn the ways of God. My desire is to walk in holiness and godliness. Redeemed the days I have wasted and lead me to righteous paths. I want to live in a way that brings honor to Jesus as my Lord and king. It’s in his name I pray. Amen
