Watchwords

God’s Watchword

WATCHWORD:

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1

And he will stand to lead his flock with the Lord’s strength,  in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. Then his people will live there undisturbed, for he will be highly honored around the world. And he will be the source of peace. Micah 5:4-5

6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27

Meditation:

God’s Watchword

Read again the scripture passages above. This is just a sample of the more than 400 times that the word peace is mentioned in scripture…God’s watchword. It seems to be a message to us, doesn’t it?

God‘s word, peace. God‘s peace is the focal point throughout our reading of the word. To Mary at the tomb, the message from Jesus was ‘peace’. To the disciples on their way to a Emmaus, the message was peace. To those gathered in the upper room, confused and not knowing what to do, Jesus stood in their midst, and his message was peace.

The message from Jesus when sending out the disciples was peace, be with you, as a Father has sent me. I am sending you. John 20. When Jesus left them, his words were peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you do not let your heart be troubled do not be afraid and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts in your minds.

You may have heard it said that was then, but now there is a different reality in our midst. I say that was then, and it is still His watchword to us, His guide, His gift to us to draw close to him and to embrace the peace that he offers. It is peace the will overcome the ‘different realities’ or troubles we encounter. Peace is God’s powerful watchword, and peace should be our watchword, a message we live out and we share.

That has always been His message to us. His watchword, peace, now and forever. Amen.

Please Blessings:

God’s peace be known, deep within your soul, when anxiety and fear, assail you, when daily, life becomes a burden that is difficult to carry. God’s peace be known, and felt, as those arms reach out to hold you.

God’s peace be known and heard, in words of comfort and release. God’s peace be known. Amen.

“Now may the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord cause his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
