WATCHWORD:
I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word. Luke 1:38
Meditation:
I Am a Servant
The words of Mary on being told that she was highly favored and blessed among women to have the honor of bearing the savior within her womb. Don’t miss the broader truth, that this privilege, extended to all of us for bearing the word, may come with difficult times, with inconvenience, even pain.
Think about Mary and the time in which all of this was occurring. She would suffer tension between she and Joseph, not to mention the shame visited upon her from the community, who had no understanding. Or the forced travel at her most vulnerable condition from Nazareth to Bethlehem, or the hurried journey, under threat of death to her child, to Egypt, and, of course those terrible days as he as she saw her son tortured, and his horrific death by crucifixion. Every difficulty, pain and inconvenience that concerned Jesus would cause her to suffer. She says, whatever the Lord wants for me, let it be to me according to your word. If suffering through this difficult time was God‘s plan, then let it be so.
There is no place of privilege in the kingdom of God that is not also a place of special suffering. When we submit our ourselves to God if you can truly say that whatever the Lord wants for me, I’m here, send me, I am simply a servant of the Lord, then your life will be a blessing to others.

Closing Prayer:
Lord, give me the courage and awareness to pray that you would make me an instrument of your peace. In Jesus name. Amen.
